I never knew about this brilliant stuff until my neighbor Kuntala Aunty shared this with us. Only from then I got to know about this easy to cook and delicious vegetarian side dish. It’sĀ a family staple now. We love to have this with steamed rice. A must try if you haven’t had this before! š
Beet Bata/ Roasted paste of Beetroot
Ingredients
- Beetroot- Medium sized 2
- Garlic paste- 1/2 tsp
- Mustard oil- 2 tbsp
- Salt
- Few slit green chilies
Method
Peel, Wash well and grate the beetroots. Keep aside. Heat oil in a pan, add the garlic paste and sautĆ© for few seconds, then add the grated beetroot, green chilies and salt (don’t overdo with the salt, this recipe doesn’t need much salt). Stir constantly on medium flameĀ (10-12minutes), let the extra water of beetroot evaporate completely.When the paste about to leave theĀ pan and at the same time turns little darker in color also, then you are done with the dish. Remove from the heat.
Serve hot with steamed rice.
