Phulkopi Bhaja aka Cauliflower Fry is an all time favorite food in our family, this can be cooked in a jiffy. Earlier we used to get cauliflowers in winter only, but now they are available through out the year. So cook and relish this dish any time whenever you want if you’re an avid cauliflower lover like me! 🙂
Cauliflower Fry/Phulkopi Bhaja
- Cauliflower- 1 medium sized (cut into small florets)
- Nigella seeds/Kalojire/Kalonji- 1/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
- Mustard oil
- Sugar- 1/2 tsp
- Fresh coriander leaves- 1 tsp chopped
In a deep frying pan/kadai add water and cauliflower florets. Give this a quick boil on high flame. Don’t boil them fully, one quick boil is enough. Remove from heat. Drain and keep aside. Heat 3 tbsp oil in a deep frying pan. Temper with nigella seeds. Once it splutters add the florets, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well. Cover and cook on medium flame, stir in between. When cooked thoroughly, add sugar. Mix and fry for 2-3 minutes more. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Remove from heat.
Serve hot as a side dish with steamed rice and daal, roti, luchi or paratha whatever you like.
