‘Doi Chingri Bhapa’ is a yogurt based lightly spiced Prawn Curry. It’s flavourful, hearty and tastes delicious with steamed rice. I cook this pretty often, one of our family favourite! 🙂
Doi Chingri Bhapa/Prawn Yogurt Curry
Ingredients
- Prawn- 11 medium sized pieces
- Yogurt- 1 cup (whisked)
- Garlic paste- 6/7 flakes
- Powdered Cashew nuts- 2 tbsp
- Few slitted green chillies
- Black pepper powder- 1/2 tsp
- Kashmiri mirch powder- 1/2 tsp
- Garam masala powder- 1/4 tsp
- Water- 1/2 cup
- Turmeric powder
- Sugar- 1tsp
- Salt
- Mustard oil
Method
Rub salt and a 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder on the freshly washed pieces of prawn. Heat 1/2 cup of oil in a kadai/deep frying pan and shallow fry the prawns until golden in color. Keep aside. Add garlic paste, water, few slit green chillies, salt, kashmiri mirch powder and black pepper powder. Mix well. Now add yogurt, powdered cashew nuts and prawns. Mix, cover and cook on low flame for 10-12 minutes. Next to add sugar, mix and cook for another 2-3-minutes. Add garam masala powder, mix and stir. Remove from heat.
Serve hot with steamed rice.
