Did a little experiment with regular ‘Bhindi Poshto’. It tastes different & more better.
Doi Poshto Bhindi/Okra in Poopy seed & Yogurt Gravy
Ingredients
- Bhindi/Okra- 300g
- Poppy seeds paste- 3 tsp (wash & grind poppy seeds in a blender with 1or 2 green chilies and water. The paste will be thick, not watery. So stop the blender in between and keep adding little amount of water. Finally it will form a smooth thick paste)
- Yogurt- 3/4 cup (beaten)
- Fennel seed- 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder
- Salt
- Mustard oil
- Few slit green chilies
- Sugar- 1 tsp
Method
Wash and cut bhindi/okra into 2 inch long pieces. Shallow fry the bhindi/okra. Keep aside. Tamper with fennel seeds. Once it splutters add the bhindi, poppy seeds paste, chilies, turmeric powder, yogurt & salt. Mix well. Sauté for 3/4 minutes. Now add water just to cover the veggies, not more than that. Mix, cover & cook for 10-15 minutes. Check the boiling, if they are fully boiled then add the sugar, mix well. The curry will be semi dry, not watery. Cook for another 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat.
Serve hot with roti or steamed rice.
