Kaanchkolar Khosha Bata/Roasted paste of Raw Banana peels

Ingredients

  • Raw Banana- 5-6 (Cut small portions off from both the ends of raw bananas and then cut them into 3 tubes. Wash and keep aside.)
  • Kalojire/Nigella Seeds/Kalonji- ½ tsp
  • Garlic cloves- 5-6
  • Green chilies- 2
  • Salt
  • Mustard oil- 4 tbsp

Method

In a cooker add raw banana pieces. Adjust water to level the raw banana pieces in the pressure cooker. Close the cooker lid and take off the flame after 2 whistles. Open the lid after the pressure has reduced. Drain the water. Take out the boiled raw bananas. Let them cool. Start peeling the raw banana skin with your fingers.

Chop the peels roughly.

In a mixer add the chopped raw banana peels and rest of the ingredients except salt. Grind until a coarse paste forms. The mixture should be sticky. It will take little time to form a coarse paste, so keep your patience. Stop and run your mixer after 6-7 seconds and stir well with the spatula while pausing. When done keep aside.

Heat oil in a frying pan (nonstick preferably). Add the raw banana paste and salt. Keep stirring constantly on medium flame. When the paste starts to leave the pan and turns little darker in color , then you are done. Remove from heat. Your ‘Kaanchkolar Khosha Bata’ is ready to eat.

Serve this as a side dish with steamed rice.
