Try this restaurant style ‘Peanut Chutney’ at home. This is awesome!
Peanut Chutney- South Indian Style
- Unsalted roasted peanuts – 1/3 cup (without skin)
- Onion(medium size) – 1 (roughly chopped into 4 cubes)
- Dry red chilies – 2
- Garlic -2cloves
- Tamarind pulp – 1 tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Fresh grated coconut- 1 tbsp
- To temper:
- 2 tsp of vegetable oil/ Olive oil or Coconut oil if u like
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Urad dal – 1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves – 1 sprig
- Hing – a pinch (optional)
Heat 1/2 tsp of oil in a frying pan. Add Onion, dry red chilies & garlic cloves. Fry on medium heat for a minute. Remove. Let it be cooled add in a mixer/grinder along with peanuts, grated coconut, tamarind pulp & some water (3 tbsp+more, if required ). Adjust the amount of water according to your choice. This chutney should be thick, so add water carefully. Grind till smooth. Keep aside. Heat oil in a frying pan add mustard seeds, once it splutters add urad dal, fry for few seconds until golden brown in color. Add curry leaves & hing. Mix & pour this tadka on chutney. Mix well. Adjust salt if needed.
Your ‘Peanut Chutney ‘ is ready. Serve with Idli, Uttapam or Dosa.
