Homemade Strawberry Jam

Finally, I made my first jar of strawberry jam! I’m so very happy & excited after making this for the first time, as a kid I was a fan of strawberry jam, never thought that I ‘d be able to make it one day. Little miss NOB liked it too. Made without any preservatives it’s a refrigerator jam. Something very easy to make, which needs only 3 ingredients. Give this a try. I bet you’ll love it! 🙂

Ingredients

  • Strawberries- 1 cup (diced)
  • Granulated sugar- ½ cup
  • Lemon juice of ½ a lemon

Method

In a nonstick frying pan add strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice.

Over low heat keep stirring frequently and after first 5-6 minutes mash the strawberries slightly (no need to mash them fully) with the help of the spatula. The jam will start thickening within 10-12 minutes. Do the jam test to check the jam is done or not. For the jam test, after the first 12 minutes put a few drops of the jam on a dry cold plate. Wait for a few seconds, drag a finger through it. If the jam is ready, the parting made by the finger will remain open. If it runs together, cook for some time more. Remove from the heat, let the jam sit in the same pan to get completely cold before transferring into a jar.

Store in an airtight jar or container and keep refrigerated.

Note:

  • My jam was ready within 15 minutes. But time may vary a little bit, don’t worry about that.
  • Use a dry spoon every time to scoop out the jam, and keep refrigerated after consuming.
  • The jam stays well up to 1 month in the refrigerator, sometimes more than a month is what I’ve experienced.
