Homemade Pasta Sauce

This Homemade Pasta Sauce can be whipped up easily with simple ingredients. Great for Pastas,Pizzas, Lasagnas, etc.

Ingredients

  • 750g- Tomato
  • 1 large- Onion (chopped)
  • ¼ cup- Fresh basil leaves (chopped)
  • 1 tsp- Dried oregano
  • 10-12- Garlic cloves
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp- Black pepper powder
  • ¼ cup- Olive oil
  • 2- Bay leaves
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri mirch powder or Paprika powder (optional, read notes)

Instructions

  1. This recipe makes 400g of Pasta Sauce.

  2. Discard the seeds and chop the tomatoes. Add the chopped tomatoes, basil, and garlic cloves to a mixer/grinder. Blitz until smooth paste forms, keep aside.

  3. Heat oil in a frying pan (nonstick preferably). Add the chopped onion, and sauté until transparent.

  4. Now add the tomato mixture, oregano, black pepper powder, paprika powder (if using), salt, and bay leaves. Mix well and simmer for 15 minutes. The sauce will thicken within this time. Keep stirring in between.

  5. Remove from the heat and let the sauce be cooled completely at room temperature.

  6. Discard the bay leaves and add this sauce to your mixer/grinder. Blitz until a smooth sauce forms. Your homemade pasta sauce is ready to cook with ingredients of your choice.

  7. Store the sauce in a glass container. Keep refrigerated, use a dry spoon every time.

Recipe Notes

  • This Pasta Sauce stays good for up to 2 months in the refrigerator.
  • The addition of Kashmiri mirch powder or Paprika powder gives a beautiful colour to  Homemade Pasta Sauce. This ingredient is optional but recommended.
